How to Relieve Toothaches For Temporary Relief

Few things are far more uncomfortable than tooth pain. You are feeling like you simply can not eat, the agony could be so great that you can not think, and life with tooth discomfort can be miserable. To add to your tooth agony distress, you call the dentist and find out that you can’t be seen for days or in some cases even weeks! What are you intending to do now? Luckily there are methods to ease tooth agony at home while you wait to be seen by your dentist.

Below are a few home remedies or solutions for immediate toothache relief.

Tooth desensitizers. Most drugstores will sell over the counter tooth desensitizers. With many products all you need to do is apply the product to the delicate area.Within a short time you should be able to notice a difference in the pain. Tooth desensitizers momentarily cover any delicate areas of the tooth very similar to a filling or bonding material. Some desensitizers can go on for weeks with only 1 application. Other brands will need more heavy use.

Toothache ice therapy can also be useful. Putting ice on the exterior of your face that covers the area of discomfort can numb the sensation. Ensure that you wipe the icepack with a towel to avoid frostbite and hold the pack in place for fifteen minutes at a time and three to 4 times per day. Reducing the swelling decreases the rush of blood attempting to heal the area. Keep it clean

Alcohol can help. Alcohol has many medical uses. If you’ve got a tooth ache consider pooling whiskey over the area affected. The gums will soak up the alcohol and numb the area. After a minute or so of pooling the alcohol over the area, you may spit out the surplus. Leave it alone – Gnaw on the side of your mouth that doesn’t hurt.

Have you tried cleaning your teeth? Many times tooth sensitiveness isn’t as important a problem as you might imagine. When food gets stuck in between your teeth it can cause pain which can at times be discomforting. You simply have to have a thorough cleaning and the pain should go away immediately.

Discomfort relievers. Discomfort reducers like acetaminophen and ibuprofen are good decisions. These are basic painkillers and will give you relief from immediate pain. Remember to follow the labeling instructions and to only take the recommended dose. Generally you’re able to take 1-2 tablets ( depending on the strength ) each 4-6 hours.

Give your teeth a break! It may seems like pretty basic advice but there are times when reducing solid food consumption for a day and going on a liquid diet may actually help reduce your pain. The more you eat the more the teeth have to work.

As is the case with any health related problems, it is always a good thing to see a dentist to be given proper dental advice.
