Paradentosis – Symptoms

September 6, 2019 By DentalHelps Informer Leave a Comment

You take extra care with your personal hygiene as it reflects your overall personality. You take a bath every early morning, and never take your eyes off from the little dirt that is sticking to your body. You also wash your face regularly to keep looking alive and remove those excess oils sticking to the skin of your face. You also brush your teeth rigorously as you believe it will whiten your teeth and also you do not want some extra foods or residue left on your teeth. You do keep brushing your teeth everyday but you may not notice that you are already developing certain teeth or gum diseases such as paradentosis or paradentose.

Brushing your teeth everyday can prevent them from growing worse but one of the causes of having paradentosis is the rigorous brushing but the major cause of it is bad oral habits. In some cases they are hereditary, meaning it runs in the genes of the family and they develop, even with proper oral habits though they can be prevented from growing worse. Another cause is the bacteria in between and on the teeth that builds up plaque. Plaque is one of the major causes of different dental problems because they are not removed easily from the teeth by simply drinking water or brushing your teeth everyday.

One will know that he or she has paradentosis or paradentose by the following symptoms:

  • The gums feel tender when you touch them
  • You notice that your teeth look longer than usual. This is because your gums are receding from your teeth.
  • Spaces are developed in between your teeth.
  • Your gums have purplish or bright red in color
  • There are pus between your gums and teeth
  • Your teeth becomes loosened
  • There are certain changes with the way your teeth are fitted together
  • Swollen gums
  • There is a foul taste in your mouth
  • Having bad breath

Paradentosis or paradentose is also considered as a major development from gingivitis, which is a mild form of inflamed gums. People are barely aware of the existence of gingivitis in their gums because they are hardly noticeable. Some people, especially who are knowledgeable about the gums and teeth will easily be able to tell that a person is developing the first stages of inflamed gums. If they are not treated right away they develop into a more serious problem which is also known as chronic periodontitis. There are several ways to prevent them from getting worse and that is to have good oral habits such as brushing your teeth after meals and flossing.

Having a regular visit to your dentist every six months will help you prevent having paradentosis. Taking care of your mouth in the regular ways – brushing, flossing, using mouthwash, can also be of great benefit in the prevention of paradentosis. So make sure you do your best in order to avoid any conditions.
