Same day dental implants can be done, but immediate dental implants are available through all dentist that offer the denture solutions. When you are considering these types of dental devices you need to consult with your dentist to see if they perform same day dental implants.
When you receive immediate dental implants you will have the titanium rod positioned in your mouth and the replacement tooth will be loaded onto that rod immediately. This is very different from the normal time frame of working with dental implantation.
When people go to get dentures implanted on titanium rods instead of getting bridges, partial plates, or even full denture sets, they normally have a three to four month length of time between implanting the titanium rod and getting their new teeth loaded onto those rods.
The dentist usually takes x-rays and performs other tests top make certain the patient is a good candidate for the procedure. You have to have enough jawbone for them to attach the titanium pieces to in order for the procedure to be a success.
Once it has been determined that you are a good candidate the dentist schedules a time to place the titanium in the mouth. When this operation has been completed the jawbone of the patient will fuse to the metal and create a permanent fixture in the mouth.
It can take several weeks before this fusion occurs. The dentist waits until they are fairly certain the fusion has occurred before they load the replacement tooth onto the titanium piece. If the fusion has not occurred before the new tooth is loaded then it is possible that the titanium piece will move and will not become firmly attached. If this happens the procedure is not considered to be a success.
When the loading is done immediately there is a greater risk that the rod will not remain in place and a second surgical incision will be necessary to re-set the rod into position. There are special circumstances that allow for the immediate loading of these pieces and only your dentist will be able to tell you if you are a candidate for same day dental implants or not.
Sometimes it is disappointing to hear that we are not a candidate for the procedure we desire. You must listen to the dentist and their expert advice on whether or not the procedure is right for you. You may get a second opinion, but take into consideration everything the dentist tells you before going against their advice.
If your dental clinic does not perform the procedure you want you should ask them for references to clinics that do. If they do not know of a clinic that does the immediate dental implants you can look online by using your favorite search engine to find locations near you that offer these services.
The health of your mouth is very important and you should take every precaution to maintain and protect it.
