July 21, 2019 By DentalHelps Informer Leave a Comment

This is one of the things that you might see during your visit to the dentist. This is a light used to assist the practitioner conduct different kinds of treatments. Finding an ideal seller of the product can be difficult, but not impossible.

The curing lights come in four types and they are:

· Tungsten halogen

· Plasma arc curing

· Light-emitting diode

· Laser

The main lights used for dental purposes are LED and halogen. When the dentists know a lot more about the lights, they are able to work even better to satisfy the patients. Today, the option has become an important part of all the practices and specialties. Almost all the adhesive cements, the dental adhesives, and the resin composites need the light so as to complete the polymerization process. This also determines how successful the procedure will be in the future. This process should never be taken lightly as it is quite important

If you do not apply the required kind of polymerization, then you may end up with sensitivity, clinical failures, fractured restorations, discolorations, and even de-bonding issues. This makes it very important to select a curing light that is ideal.

How to handle the wide range of products?

If you assess the market today, you will notice that many manufacturers are making these products. To be safe, there are some questions that need to be asked. You need to ask them why their light is better than the others and what it has to offer. Also, you should determine the factors that will determine the kind of process to use on every patient.

Light intensity should also be considered. Find out how much of the light should be applied to complete the process. You need to determine how the product chemistry will affect the time needed for the restoration.

The technology

The lights emit light energy while the photo-initiators absorb it and then start the chemical reactions needed to initiate composite material polymerization. This is what is referred to as photo-polymerization.

Irradiance or light intensity and dental application need to be factored by the dentist when they are deciding on the next course of action. There are different ways of calculating the two factors and only a qualified dentist can handle it.

The applications that you have should also be considered. The irradiance can decrease quite a lot when there are restorative materials involved such as resin composites or ceramic restorations. A decrease in the irradiance can depend on the thickness, translucency, opacity, refractive index, shades, filler lading, and filer type of the restorative materials. If you want to make a purchase, then all angles of the lights have to be considered. Do your research and get referrals as well. This is the only way you will find a good choice for your practice.
