What Is an Immediate Load Dental Implant?

October 21, 2019 By DentalHelps Informer Leave a Comment

A dental implant is typically made of titanium and placed on the jaw bone so that the bone can grow around the titanium piece and create a permanent way to hold dentures and false teeth in place. Most of these devices can take as long as six months before the dentist feels they are ready to have the false teeth loaded onto them. An immediate load dental implant works under the same principles as the other version, with one exception, the false teeth they are designed to hold are put into place on the same day that the surgery is done.

Many people believe that the immediate load dental implant will not be as successful as the original version that allows the bone growth to form before they are loaded. There have been many oral surgeons that have had great successes with the devices getting the teeth on them at the same time, but it must be noted that the quality and quantity of bone the oral surgeon has to work with will be the main determining factor in how well the immediate load dental implants stays in place.

Bone quality and quantity also play a significant role in the implanting of the original titanium devices as well. The patient must undergo x-rays, CT scans, and tests of this nature in order for the oral surgeon to determine whether or not they are a prime candidate for this surgical procedure.

The preparation time for the implanting of the pieces next to the jawbone may actually take longer than the actual surgery does. This is because the oral surgeon must be one hundred percent positive on where they are placing the pieces. If they are off and cause the piece to interfere with the sinuses they could cause future problems for their patient.

The ability to replace missing teeth with a prosthetic device that is secure and unmoving in the mouth is a great leap forward in dentistry. Typical bridge work can eventually cause severe damage to the surrounding teeth and the anchor teeth. The partial plate dentures move around in the mouth and do not stay firmly in place. The devices that are placed on the jawbone and allowed to become a part of this bone will be less troublesome and feel more natural to the patient.

Basically an immediate load dental implant is a device that allows you to replace lost teeth with new ones that are going to feel more natural and look more natural than typical dentures do. This is especially important in the case of front teeth that are missing. You do not want to be concerned with loose teeth that can shift and move when you are eating, talking, or doing something in public. These devices take away the possibility of the teeth moving once they are positioned correctly.

No two implanting procedures are the same, even within the same mouth. The surgeon will have to evaluate each possible implantation thoroughly.
